Mass gatherings won’t happen until at least 70% of the population is vaccinated says Nolan

The head of NPHET’s epidemiological modelling advisory group professor Philip Nolan has warned that mass gatherings at concerts, sports events and indoor settings won’t happen until at least 70% of the population is vaccinated.

According to The Irish Post, professor Nolan has warned that such events won’t go ahead until the large majority of the population is vaccinated and we achieve herd immunity.

Speaking about the issue, professor Nolan said that the country would have to achieve at least 70% in vaccinations in order to consider the reopening of society to more normal levels.

However he did warn that a high rate of vaccinations may be needed given the new variants of Covid-19.

He added until we reach those sort of numbers gatherings in such settings are not going to be safe.
