Multi-billionaire titan of tech, Elon Musk, has tweeted his support for the ‘Free Speech Ireland’ movement, replying to a tweet by the movement, echoing their stance and stating that the proposed legislation represents a a “massive attack against freedom of speech”.
The Twitter CEO has brought some much needed attention to the legislation currently making its way through the Houses of the Oireachtas.
Last week, in a vote in the Dáil on proposed Hate Speech laws the government was supported by so-called “opposition” parties Sinn Fein, Labour and the Social Democrats.
It is believed the legislation, which many have compared to thought crime laws, will go before the Seanad within a month or so and will not return to the Dáil until after the summer recess in August.
In the meantime, the Irish Freedom Party have called a rally in support of Free Speech at the Custom House for Saturday, May 13th at 2pm with likeminded Irish patriots with other or no political affiliation also invited.
