While 10,000 Irish people lie homeless, many of whom sleep rough near the Aras, Michael D Higgins is out in the sun on the back of taxpayers’ hard earned cash.
Higgins has started a three-day visit to the to the eastern Mediterranean island where he’ll meet with members of An Garda Síochána currently stationed in Cyprus.
Along with that, the visit will include travel to the UN-controlled buffer zone which divides the island from Turkey. He’ll also have meetings with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus and the Committee on Missing Persons.
