Theresa May has held onto her position as leader of the Conservative Party after being backed by a majority of her party.

The British Prime Minister was given a majority of 83 after 200 party members voted in favour of her leadership.

Although the win was not overwhelming with 117 members voting against the British PM, it now means that Mrs May will now be able to continue her negotiations in securing a Brexit deal.

Mrs May is believed to have secured the vote after she vowed not to stand in the 2022 British General Election.
