The lady whose body was found in Ballina, County Mayo, near the River Moy has been identified by the Gardaí, reports Breaking News.

Róisín Cryan, a 28-year-old from Ard Na Sí, Attyrory, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim, has been identified locally as the fiancée of 29-year-old Mayo senior football player Conor Loftus.

In the 2017 All-Ireland football final, Mr. Loftus, who plays for the Crossmolina team Deel Rovers, famously scored a goal, reports Breaking News.

The local GAA team Shannon Gaels was one of many who paid their respects.

They said: “On behalf of the entire Shannon Gaels GAA community, we extend our deepest condolences to the Cryan family and loved ones of Róisín. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time. May you find strength and comfort in each other, and know that we stand with you in your grief’’, reports Breaking News.

Locals also paid tribute. One said said ‘’Heartfelt sympathy to Joe, Marguerite and Róisín’s sisters and to the extended Cryan and Loftus families on your great loss. Maeve and Róisín were always in and out of our house when they were children, playing with the dog and chatting to my parents, Eamonn and Bridie. With my sympathy and fond regards. Take good care of yourselves and of each other,” reports Breaking News.

Another said: “I met Róisín during what turned out to be the best summer of our lives, living together in San Francisco. From the moment we met, it was clear she had a special kind of energy—gentle, kind, and full of life. We were always up to some kind of mischief together, creating memories I’ll carry with me forever. Róisín was one of the most gentle and kind-hearted people I’ve ever known, and I feel truly lucky to have shared that unforgettable summer with her,” reports Breaking News.

The survivors of Róisín include her sisters Annmarie, Clare, Ruth, and Maeve, as well as her parents Joe and Marguerite and fiancé Conor Loftus.

Tomorrow from 3 to 7 p.m., she will be laid to rest at The Heritage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Church Lane in Carrick-on-Shannon.
