David McGoldrick was the hero as Ireland secured a 1-1 draw with Switzerland this evening.
In a match that was far from a classic, Ireland kept their unbeaten record in tact and Euro 2020 championship hopes as they managed to grind out what could be a crucial draw in Dublin this evening.
Ireland who had been unbeaten in four, managed to get a result that leaves with 11 points from five games.
Although Switzerland dominanted the possession both sides lacked the cutting edge to take the spoils in a blustery Aviva Stadium.
Switzerland who have two games in hand over Mick McCarthy’s men, thought they took the spoils when Schear put the Swiss ahead in the 74th minute.
However Ireland drew level after McGoldrick nodded home a cross on the 85th minute.
