Medical card holders will be able to get the morning-after pill without prescription from next month

People with medical cards will be able to obtain the morning-after pill without prescription from next month, after Minister for Health Simon Harris signed a proposed bill to that effect into law on Thursday.

Current regulations stipulate that medical card holders must obtain a prescription from their doctor, with the corresponding expense.

From July 1, those people with medical cards will be able to purchase the medication over the counter, without a prescription.
