Reuters UK reports that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has given in to U.S President Donald Trump’s demands and says she will now seek to drop the EU’s 10% tariffs on American car imports.
This comes after President Trump imposed large tariffs on the importation of EU steel which was met with ire and defiance from Brussels and the EU commission threatened a 25% tariff on £3.21 billion of U.S imports.
Now however, Germany, whose car industry would be devastated in a trade war with the U.S has said it will push the EU to drop tariffs on U.S imports and accede to President Trump’s demands the Express UK reported.
This would another major victory for the U.S President who promised to defend American jobs during his election campaign.
