Met Eireann forecasts a very wet and windy weekend, as several bands of rain are about to crisscross the country

Met Eireann is forecasting a very wet and windy weekend, as several bands of rain are about to crisscross the country.

According to the national forecaster, today, Friday, will be a dull but relatively calm and mild day, with temperatures reaching 12C.

Saturday is expected to see the worst of the weather, as winds pick up speed, particularly in northern areas, where they’re likely to reach gale force at times. A band of rain will move southwards throughout the morning, with temperatures hovering at around the 10C mark.

Sunday will start off mostly dry, but another band of rain will spread from the west, bringing heavy rain in the west and northwest.

The outlook for Monday isn’t any better, as the weather remains unsettled for the next few days.
