A status yellow status thunder storm warning has been issued for 11 counties this evening.
In an announcement Met Eireann said the warning will remain in effect until 9pm this evening.
The national forecaster say the warning will remain in place for the following counties: Roscommon, Cavan, Sligo, Leitrim, Monaghan, Longford, Donegal, Meath, Louth, Westmeath and Dublin.
Met Éireann say heavy downpours are expected with some localised flooding expected in some in areas.
