Forecasters at Met Éireann have issued a Yellow status Warning for Leinster, ad parts of Ulster, as heavy rainfall of between 30mm and 40mm is expected throughout the day.
The warning comes after most of Leinster and parts of Ulster experienced heavy rainfall overnight. Forecasters say spells of heavy and thundery rain is expected to result in intense downpours in most parts of the country today. Meanwhile Dublin City Council have decided to mobilise its drainage on-call crews and road gully crews from throughout the day as a precautionary measure.
The ESB are also expecting possible power outages as a result of the miserable weather. A spokesperson for the company has said possible lightning may lead to outages. Customers are advised to visit www.powercheck.ie or call 1850-372-999 for updates.
