Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning affecting 17 counties.
The warning, which covers all of Leinster plus counties Waterford, Tipperary, Leitrim, Cavan, and Monaghan, will remain in effect until 9pm.
According to the national forecaster, many areas around these counties will experience heavy rain, which may be thundery at times.
