Elsewhere, a yellow wind warning has been issued for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford. Wind speeds of 90km/h to 110km/h are forecast across those counties.

And also, a snow and ice warning, with snow accumulations of up to 3 centimetres, has been issued for Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.

The first weather alert will kick in at 9pm tonight.
