Met Eireann is this afternoon issuing an urgent warning about an impending cold snap, which may remain for weeks.
According to the national forecaster, temperatures will begin to fall by this evening, leading to a freezing Tuesday night and a frosty Wednesday morning.
The bad news is that some weather models show the cold snap remaining until at least February 25, though this is uncertain at this point.
