Met Eireann has issued an urgent warning as severe weather approaches.
The national forecaster says that the second half of this week will be dominated by severe frost and wintry showers, with lows of -3C and the possibility of snow over higher ground.
The warning kicks in at 4pm on Wednesday, and will remain in place until midnight on Saturday.
