Met Eireann has issued an urgent weather warning for low temperatures as freezing weather is expected overnight.
Lows of -3C or -4C are forecast for most areas.
The warning will be in place from 5pm to 11am on Friday morning.
The outlook is for very cold temperatures to remain throughout Friday, but the thermometer is expected to rise a little by the weekend.
