Met Eireann have issued a yellow status warning for the entire country.
In a statement the national forecaster say that heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Thursday.
They also say there is a risk of localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
The warning came into effect from 6am and will remain in place until 7pm.
