Met Eireann predicts a dry start of 2020, but rain will soon follow

The national forecaster is predicting a dry first day of the new year, but rain won’t be far behind.

The forecast for the next 48h is as follows:

Today, Sunday, will be a bright and mostly dry day, with temperatures hovering at around 11C-12C. Sunday night will remain dry also, with lows of 6C-7C.

Monday will also be a largely dry day across Munster and Leinster, but rainy conditions might develop across Connacht and Ulster throughout the afternoon, though rain is not expected to be heavy.

Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, is forecast to remain dry and bright across most of the country, with some frost developing during the night.

Wednesday, New Year’s Day, will mostly be a dry day also, with temperatures reaching 10-11C at times.

The outlook is for rainy conditions to return from Thursday onwards, though temperatures will remain well above freezing, and certainly higher than the average for this time of year.
