Met Eireann predicts temperatures of 23C as tropical thunder surge could strike the Emerald Isle

Temperatures are expected to rise as high as 23C, although some showers—potentially heavy—are forecast for the early part of the week, reports The Mirror.

Met Éireann has predicted a “mixed” start to the week, with periods of rain or showers likely on Monday night, Tuesday afternoon and evening, and again on Wednesday morning, before more stable weather returns later in the week and heading into the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to reach approximately 23C on Tuesday, with the low 20s continuing through to the weekend as high pressure is expected to take hold, reports The Mirror.

Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather noted that Monday will start off cloudy with scattered showers, but temperatures could climb to 20C in parts of the North and West.

He wrote: “A cloudy start for many with a mix of sunny spells and well scattered showers ahead. Up to 20C today in Northern and Western areas but cooler in East and South,” reports The Mirror.

Here is Met Éireann’s weather forecast for the week ahead:

Monday

Sunshine will break through in the western half of Ireland, while the east remains more overcast with scattered rain and drizzle. Top temperatures will range from 15 to 19 degrees, with moderate northerly winds that will be stronger near Atlantic coasts. Overnight, variable cloud with some showers is likely, possibly heavy at times. Temperatures will stay between 8 and 11 degrees, with light to moderate northerly winds shifting to easterly, reports The Mirror.

Tuesday

A mix of sunshine and showers, with the possibility of heavy or even thundery downpours during the afternoon and evening. Northern areas may avoid rain altogether. Temperatures will reach between 18 and 23 degrees, with the west being the warmest, under moderate easterly winds, reports The Mirror.

It will become dry overnight with clear skies. Temperatures will stay between 8 and 11 degrees, accompanied by light easterly winds.

Wednesday

Sunny spells in the morning, with showers likely to develop later, especially in the west and southwest. Highest temperatures will range from 16 to 22 degrees, coolest along the east coast, with a moderate easterly wind, reports The Mirror.

Thursday

Expected to be mostly dry with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures will hit between 16 and 23 degrees, warmest in the west and southwest, with light easterly winds, reports The Mirror.

Friday

Another dry and sunny day, with top temperatures between 16 and 21 degrees and moderate easterly breezes.
