Met Eireann says Ireland could get even hotter as they issue alert

According to the Met Éireann, the glorious sunshine will continue over the bank holiday weekend – and there is growing confidence that it will continue for a while.

But so far we haven’t been hit by a heatwave – five days in a row with temperatures up to 25°C.

Yesterday, the highest temperature recorded so far was recorded at Shannon Airport, where the temperature reached 25.3C, reports The Mirror.

The national meteorologist said temperatures will remain in the low 20C.

Met Eireann’s Paul Downes added: “Technically we haven’t had a heatwave as yet but the glorious sunshine is set to continue. And there is growing confidence it will get a little warmer and last another while. We will have temperatures in the low 20s and in the west temperatures will hit the mid 20s with cooler weather along coasts,” reports The Mirror.

Mr Downes added: “When attending events, and even at the coast, if there is a breeze out it may feel a bit cooler but the sun is still strong so wear sunscreen,” reports The Mirror.
