Met Eireann is today saying that the current temperature record in Ireland of 33.3C could be broken over the coming days as extreme heat (for Ireland) approaches.
The highest-ever temperature here was recorded at Kilkenny Castle in June of 1887.
But according to current predictions, this record could be toppled by Monday or Tuesday of next week.
The mini heatwave is not expected to last though, as cooler air is expected to arrive by Wednesday.
