Met Eireann says that Ireland will experience very mild temperatures and a lot of rain this week as the tail end of Hurricane Sam strikes the country

Met Eireann is this afternoon saying that Ireland will experience very mild temperatures and a lot of rain this week, as the tail end of Hurricane Sam strikes the country.

According to the national forecaster, the thermometer is likely to reach 19C at times this week, but there will be frequent outbreaks of heavy rain during the second half.

Early indications show a strong likelihood of high pressure building over Ireland by the weekend, which might lead to dry and settled weather.
