Met Eireann has warned holidaymakers going to Spain this week of extreme temperatures reaching 45C, or possibly above.
Spain is currently experiencing a ‘heat dome’ phenomenon due to a mass of hot air blowing from Africa. Very high temperatures are not unusual in Spain during the peak summer months, but they are highly unusual this early in the season.
This heatwave is the hottest for the month of June in over two decades.
