Met Eireann is this evening warning of at least 10 days of extremely unsettled weather, with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast.
According to the national forecaster, there’s little in the way of summer on the horizon, as temperatures will not get any higher than the low 20s at best.
Meanwhile, most of southern Europe is experiencing a proper heatwave, with thermometers climbing to the mid 40s at times.
