Met Eireann warns of freezing temperatures over the next few days as a cold spell arrives later today

Met Eireann is warning of freezing temperatures over the next few days, as a cold spell arrives later today.

A mass of Arctic mass is currently sweeping southwards, bringing wintry showers and heavy frost, particularly during Monday and Tuesday.

The national forecaster is also warning of the possibility of snowfalls, possibly on higher ground.

Monday and Tuesday night are expected to be rather cold, with temperatures likely to sink to -3C at times.

The outlook is for temperatures to somewhat improve by mid-week, but wetter weather will set in by then.
