Met Eireann is this evening warning of the formation of black ice across many Irish roads, causing hazardous walking and driving conditions.
Temperatures have remained in the low single digits for the day, and are expected to plunge well below freezing overnight.
The cold spell is expected to last until Wednesday, when more unsettled weather is likely to take over.
