Met Office issues warning for extreme heat in the UK

The Met Office has issued a warning for all UK residents as temperatures are due to soar this week.

A mass of hot Saharan air drifting northwards will cause the thermometer to rise significantly, reaching highs of 34C-36C by midweek.

Pollen levels are also expected to reach dangerous levels, so allergy and asthma sufferers are advised to monitor the situation carefully and have their medications ready at all times.

Closer to home, temperatures will likely reach 26-28C this week around Ireland.
