Michael O’Leary says he won’t apologise for buying housing estate near the airport for his staff

The CEO of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, stated that he would “apologise to nobody for it” and that he does not think the purchase of 25 brand-new homes in Swords is a major problem.

The properties were purchased by the airline to be rented out to cabin staff.

It said: “In recent years the absence of affordable rental accommodation has been a major impediment to recruiting and training new Irish and European cabin crew members to Ryanair’s in-flight team,” reports RTE.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Today with Claire Byrne, Mr. O’Leary stated that Ryanair must make sure there is housing available for newly hired cabin crew members each year.

“What we’re able to do now is to facilitate with rental properties that are just one bus stop from Dublin Airport. So it’s easy and adjacent to the airport for our cabin crew,” Mr O’Leary said, reports RTE.
