Micheal Martin only got elected on count SIX but he’s now going to be the new Taoiseach

The Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin was only elected on count SIX, yes, count SIX less than 4 months ago in February.

Admittedly it’s been a bizarre couple of months but that’s irrelevant to the fact that Martin’s own people down in the people’s republic of Cork couldn’t even be bothered electing him on the first count.

Now, whether you like it or not, you’re getting him, it would seem.

Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and the Green Party have agreed a draft programme for government which, if passed by their parties’ membership, will see Micheal Martin as Taoiseach until December 2022.

Whether you voted for them or not, it appears the powers that be in Dail Eireann have struck a deal and will be ruling the country from this week.

Was it the government that you voted for? Well whether it was or not, these three men will almost certainly be ruling the country in a new government.

It’s looking increasingly likely that the Green Party’s Eamon Ryan will be in government with Fine Gael’s Leo Varadkar and Fianna Fail’s Micheal Martin, despite what the general election results showed.

Is this the government that you voted for?
