“Migrants are causing backlogs” – Irish people are turning to pharmacists for medical advice due to GP delays

A growing number of people are seeking medical guidance from their local pharmacist as access to doctor appointments becomes more difficult, reports Breaking News.

According to research by the Irish Pharmacy Union, nine out of ten people believe pharmacists should have the authority to prescribe treatments for minor ailments like migraines and back pain.

The survey, which included 2,000 participants, revealed that nearly 80% are now facing longer wait times to see their GP, reports Breaking News.

At the same time, data from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) shows that 364 patients were on hospital trolleys as of Monday morning.

Of those, 226 were in emergency departments, while another 138 were waiting for beds in other hospital areas.

University Hospital Limerick had the highest number of patients without beds, with 83 individuals waiting, reports Breaking News.
