According to the latest figures from the Department of Integration, over 200 international protection applicants who have recently arrived in Ireland are currently without State accommodation, reports RTE.
The Irish government stopped providing beds to all male International Protection Applicants on December 4th due to a severe shortage of accommodation.
Since then, 257 male International Protection Applicants have presented themselves to the Department, but only 50 of them have been provided with accommodation, leaving 207 without any place to stay, reports RTE.
Last week, the Irish Cabinet decided to increase the weekly payments for asylum seekers who are not being offered accommodation.
These applicants will now receive €113.50 per week for as long as they remain without accommodation, reports RTE.
