Millions of Hyundai and Kia drivers get old to park outside amid fire warning

According to Breaking News, Hyundai and Kia are recalling about 3.4 million vehicles in the U.S. and advising owners to park outside due to the risk of engine compartment fires.

The recall affects multiple car and SUV models between the 2010 and 2019 model years, including the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and the Kia Sorrento SUV.

Documents released Wednesday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that the antilock brake control module can leak fluid and cause an electrical short that could cause a fire while the vehicle is parked or in motion.

Car manufacturers are advising owners to park outside and away from buildings until repairs are made, reports Breaking News.

Dealers will replace the anti-lock fuse at no cost to owners.

Kia said in the document that it will send notifications to owners starting Nov. 14, reports Breaking News.

For Hyundai, it’s November 21.

According to the documents, Hyundai reported 21 fires and 22 other “thermal incidents” in affected vehicles in the U.S., including smoke, burns and melting parts.

Kia reported 10 fires and meltdowns.

Hyundai said in a statement that owners could continue to drive the vehicles and that no accidents or injuries were reported, reports Breaking News.
