Millions of Russian citizens’ lives were thrown into complete disarray this morning as air raid sirens blared across vast areas of the country, causing major panic and upset in Russian society.
People in Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, and Belgorod were warned of an impending attack and to seek shelter immediately, sparking widespread chaos and terror.
It’s not the first time that hackers successfully break into Russian broadcasters’ systems, as a similar incident took place last week. The hackers’ aim is to sow chaos, fear, distrust, and anxiety among the population to accelerate the breakdown of Russian society in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Even though this time it turned out to be a ruse, the strategy of hacking broadcasting systems serves to condition civilians into believing that it’s always a fake. But one day, it won’t be, and that day, a very real Ukrainian bombardment will inflict mass casualties.
