Mining company hopeful of further exploration after discovering gold in Co Cavan

An Irish mining company has revealed that they are hopeful for further exploration after discovering gold in the hills of Co Cavan.

The announcement comes after the company Conroy Gold and Natural Resources revealed that they discovered gold in Slieve Glah.

Conroy say the prospect of further exploration is looking positive after they uncovered traces of gold after drilling two so called scout holes.

The company say the first drill hole found low grade gold mineralisation in bedrock of 1.0 metre at 0.5 grams per tonne from a 95.0m down hole.

Meanwhile the second hole intersected 4.0 metres of 0.1 grams per tonne from a 124.0m down hole.

Conroy who have previously discovered gold 1.5km away from the current site, say the latest discovery proves that there is mineralising system in the area and results give strong grounds for continued exploration in the region.
