The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that he has requested that the HSE suspend the roll-out of vaccines at the Beacon Hospital.

In a statement released this afternoon Donnelly said that he has considered the situation carefully and have worked with the HSE to assess the matter.

The Health Minister said that what happened shouldn’t have happened and it was inappropriate and completely unacceptable.

He added that the vaccine roll-out will be suspended at the hospital, but the hospital will be able to administer vaccines to those who have been scheduled to get a vaccine.

The Minister for Health’s decision comes after it was revealed on Friday that 20 leftover vaccines had been distributed to 20 teachers at a private school in Co Wicklow.
