The Minister for Health stood up inside the Dáil chamber today and issued an apology for his failure to reveal the knowledge he had about the escalating costs of the new children’s hospital.
Harris had all along maintained that he knew nothing about the rapidly increasing costs of the facility until November of last year, but incriminating memos surfaced recently that revealed the minister knew of the gaping hole in the financial estimates as far back as August of 2018.
The minister claimed during the apology that the figures were ‘commercially sensitive’, so he could not reveal them at the time.
