Some Nurses’ to receive €2,500 annual increase if they accept Labour Court’s recommendations

Irish nursing staff will receive an increase of almost €2,500 on their annual salary if unions accept the recommendations set out by the Labour Court.

Under the new proposals nursing staff working on the higher end of the pay scale which will range from between €35,806 rising to €45,841, could potentially recieve an annual boost worth €2,439.

The proposals set out by the Labour Court will also include significant funding to maintain staffing levels, increased education and training opportunities and a significant change to salaries and allowances.

Although the new pay proposals will be based on a scale grading system that will assess those working in the industry for four or more years, the Government hope that both unions involved in the industrial action will accept the deal.

However although the INMO say the offer was a significant step in negotiations, they have stressed that a decision will not be made until its members unambiguously agree to the proposals on offer.

It is expected that INMO will discuss the proposals on Wednesday, whilst the PNA say they will review the recommendations.
