The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is expected to bring the much debated and talked about minimum unit alcohol pricing Bill before the Dail later today.

In a move that will see the price of alcohol products across the country significantly increase, the Minister for Health is seeking to gain cabinet approval on the Bill.

It is understood that the Donnelly will seek approval for the Section 11 of the 2018 Public Health Alcohol Act which will see the price of alcohol being set at 10c per gram.

Under the proposals which is aimed at cutting the sale of cheap alcohol products at off licences and supermarkets, a can of beer would cost €1.32 minimum.
