Not happy! Holohan says if we see another surge then we’ll dramatically slow down reopening progress

He’s back a couple of weeks and he means business. Holohan says if we see behaviour that leads to infection increases then NPHET will tell the government to dramatically slow down the progress of reopening the country after the draconian lockdown measures imposed on the Irish people since St Stephen’s Day 2020.

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said that the change in numbers and the increase in vaccinations are the reason for the country being able to reopen.

We need to be open that we see non compliance in a significant level with something that we didn’t predict and if our R number increases to 1.25 or 1.5 then we may need to step in.

NPHET say that over the coming weeks they think there is no increase in risks. With his arms crossed, Holohan means business and the threat of further restrictions in the future is more than likely a serious one.
