In a truly remarkable story a Chinese newborn baby boy who was tragically pronounced dead, suddenly woke up crying moments before he was due to be cremated.
Reports in China say the newborn baby amazingly came back to life after spending the night in a morgue at -12C temperature. According to worker at the Pan’an funeral home in Jinhua , he suddenly realised that the baby named An An, was still alive when he pulled the newborn out of the refrigerator and he heard him moan. Originally doctors at the Pan’an People’s Hospital in Zhejiang placed the newborn on incubator after he had been delivered prematurely, after a seven-month pregnancy, on January 8.
However it is then believed that the boy’s father insisted on taking him out of incubation a week earlier than doctors had recommended to bring him home for Chinese New Year, although tragically two days later, the boy’s face had lost colour and the family rushed him back to hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately the hospital’s paediatrician, Dr Chen Shuanghua, declared that the baby was dead due to him not breathing and having no heartbeat.
According to Chinese media a short time later the hospital issued a death certificate, before a distraught An An’s father wrapped him in two layers of clothing and took him to the morgue of the Pan’an Funeral Home at around 6pm. It is understood little An An, then spent 15 hours in a freezer with temperatures of -12C, before he woke up.
Reports now say little An An was then taken to an emergency room, where he was placed under observation in an incubator. Meanwhile Dr Chen who described little An An’s survival as a miracle, told reporters: “Having been a paediatrician for over 20 years, I can’t really understand how this happened.
It is believed that staff at the hospital made a mistake by not confirming the baby’s death a second time before issuing the death certificate.
