Miracle in the snow: Emergency services successfully manage to help Carlow woman give birth on the roadside

Rescue services in Co Carlow have been praised for their heroics after they successfully managed to help a woman give birth on the side of the road on Wednesday morning.

The miracle in the snow occured in the early hours of Wednesday morning when an ambulance was called to an apartment complex in Graiguecullen, after the woman went into labour at approximatley 6am on Wednesday morning.

However due to adverse weather conditions the birthing process was made all the more difficult when the ambulance the paramedics were traveling in, got stuck in the snow at the scene.

Although the paramedics managed to make it to aid the woman whilst local firefighters freed the ambulance from the snow, they were later forced to stop on the roadside whilst en route to the hospital due to the tricky conditions.

Thankfully after a number of hours in the back of the ambulance the woman with the help of the heroic paramedics managed to give birth to a baby girl.

It is believed both the mother and the newborn baby girl are doing well in hospital.
