It has been confirmed that none of the 52 people on board of the bus that overturned near Fermoy, Co. Cork this morning sustained any life-threatening injuries.
A total of four children were taken to Cork University Hospital as a precaution, but it is understood that the more serious injury among them is a fractured leg.
The bus driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while driving down a steep hill in torrential rain. The bus swerved hard and went over a small knoll, overturning onto a sunken field below. The driver himself was unharmed and was able to call for help.
Several units of the Fermoy fire brigade rushed to the scene, along with Gardai and ambulances.
The road will remain closed for some time.
