Miserable weather approaching just on time for the weekend

Today we may see a slight improvement on the weather, but it’s not to last. Heavy, thundery downpours are widely expected to hit the country over the Bank Holiday weekend, further adding to the misery of the planned bus strike.

Tonight it’s going to be a cold one, with temperatures sinking to below freezing. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected in some areas.

Friday will start out sunny, but rain will soon put an appearance, spreading northwards throughout the day.

Saturday will be particularly bad, with widespread rain and strong east to southeast winds, though temperatures will remain at a moderate 8-13C.

Intense rain will clear by Sunday morning, but showers will arrive hot on its heels. Heavy and thundery downpours are likely.
