
Egyptair MS804 is a daily scheduled flight between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Cairo Airport (CAI).
MS804 departed CDG at 11.09 GMT on Wednesday May 18, 2016,
The flight, an Airbus 320, carried 66 people on board, including 10 crew.
The last contact with traffic control took place at 3.26am. The pilot signed off with Greek air traffic controllers as the aircraft entered Egyptian airspace. It did so at 3.27am. Three minutes later, all communication was lost. No distress signal was sent prior to that moment.
A fisherman reported seeing a ‘flame in the sky’ around the time when the flight went missing, about 130 nautical miles south of the Greek island of Karpathos.
Listed on the passenger manifest are 30 Egyptians, 15 French, two Iraqis, and one each from the UK, Belgium, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Chad, Portugal, Algeria and Canada.
In compliance with regulations, Airbus engineers are on standby to offer full technical assistance.
A joined search and rescue effort is in operation in the Mediterranean.
