A team of 45 rescue workers worked through the late evening to locate a woman in her 50s lost and stranded in a Killarney mount since yesterday afternoon.
It’s thought that the woman herself raised the alarm after she got lost while walking on Mangerton Mountain.
The woman hunkered down for the night and spent it on the mountain as rescue workers feared it was too dangerous to search during the night.
The team of workers resumed at first light and managed to reach and safely rescue the woman just after 8am this morning. The woman, an experienced mountain walker, was said to be safe and well but very tired.
