Mick McCarthy was announced as the new Republic of Ireland manager yesterday evening after lengthy discussions with the FAI.

McCarthy who was clear favourite for the position, has signed a two year deal that will see take charge until 2020.

Meanwhile it has been revealed that Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny will take over from McCarthy following the European Championships in 2020.

It’s understood that Kenny will replace Noel King as the under 21s boss for the next two years.

But not everyone is happy with the new management team with some people saying that it’s taking a step backwards while others say Kenny won’t take over in 2020 because McCarthy will try and stay on.

Dundalk football team fans are also concerned now that their star manager left left “The Town”.
