In what was described as a horrific and unprovoked attack, father-of-four Graham Tobin died from blunt force trauma he sustained when he was punched in the head by Francis Hughes with an address in Oram, Castleblayney in October 2018.

27-yr-old Hughes had pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Graham Tobin in a single-punch attack in Co Monaghan in October 2018.

It’s understood that the violent incident happened after Mr Tobin had stayed up to watch a Conor McGregor MMA fight with his friends.

It was reported that Hughes didn’t seek medial attention for Mr Tobin who sadly banged his head and died 11 days later as a result of the punch. At one point, Hughes allegedly suggested putting the victim in the boot of his car.

Hughes was handed down an eight year sentence for the unprovoked ‘single-punch’ attack with Mr Tobin’s family said to be very emotional at the verdict.
