The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed that he fully plans on issuing water charge refunds before the end of the year.
The news which will be welcomed by over 1 million householders was confirmed by a Government spokesperson over the weekend.
It is thought Mr Varadkar wants to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible and those who paid their charges will see a refund before the end of the year.
Although it is not yet known how the refunds will be issued its is believed the Government will spend over €170m to pay back those who paid their charges before they were formally scrapped.
