More scaremongering? “Experts” say 2023 was the hottest year on record as Earth nears 1.5c

According to recent data from Copernicus, the EU’s climate change office, global temperatures last year averaged nearly 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, an extraordinarily high level, reports RTE.

A number of record-breaking conditions are highlighted in the paper, such as the hottest month ever recorded and daily average world temperatures that momentarily rise above pre-industrial levels by more than 2C.

The average temperature of last year was 14.98C, 0.17C hotter than the previous record set in 2016, reports RTE.

A year beyond this does not imply that the pact has failed because this measurement is used as a decadal average.

Antarctic sea ice has been at an all-time low, and July 2023 was probably the hottest month in the last 120,000 years—nearly as long as modern people have existed, reports RTE.
