
Ireland will gain a further three seats in the European Parliament following the UK’s exit from the EU it has been confirmed.
Following a vote by the Constitutional Affairs Committee, it is understood Ireland will automatically gain three seats out of the 73 seats the UK currently holds.
Meanwhile a further 27 seats will redistributed amongst 14 nations, whilst a the remaining 46 seats will held in reserve.
The decision which will be beneficial to the Irish Government’s input on European issues, will come as a blow to Northern Ireland as they will lose three seats following the conclusion of Brexit.
